Your personal sphere of influence:

As a University Assistant Praedoc, you will contribute to the teaching and research of the Chair of Modern Art History (Prof. Dr. Sebastian Egenhofer). You will teach regularly, but your main work will be writing your dissertation in the field of Modern Art History (from the late 18th century to the present day). 

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Modern Art History.
  • You work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement (usually 6 courses of 2 SWS each in 3 years).
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
  • You will participate in the activities of the Chair of Modern Art History (conferences, lecture series, etc.)

This is part of your personality:

  • Excellent Master's/Diploma degree with a thesis in the field of "Modern Art History" (late 18th-21st century). Please send a summary of the Master's thesis of 3 pages.
  • a dissertation project with a focus on "Modern Art History". Please send an exposé of 5 pages.
  • Didactic competence (including e-learning)
  • Very good knowledge of English; preferably also knowledge of other foreign languages
  • Ability to work in a team and experience in academic research and self-administration
  • Experience abroad and good organizational skills are desirable
